Amateur Restoration: Singer Sewing Machine Stand

The singer sewing machine company/ Singer Manufacturing was one of the most popular brands of sewing machine. Beginning business in 1861 and still serving until today. There were many models made by the company with most of them being made either in the U.S or the United Kingdom and Scotland. As time went on and industrialization kicked more into effect the home sewing machine became rarer and rarer as factories could produce clothes at much lower costs. Many sewing machines were sold to collectors or left where they sat waiting to be noticed once again.

Amateur Antique Restoration: 20th Century Singer Sewing machine stand. This stand donated by a fellow local who shall remain unnamed, has been exposed to the elements for over 30 years and has accumulated a thick layer of rust, to the point that It can no longer function. The amount of rust was astounding, it took 2 coats of wd-40 to take it off. It is of no concern though as a spray of WD-40 and a bath in soapy water cleaned it enough for it to be painted. Two coats of black paint later and the rusted hunk of metal we saw before is now a nice stand ready for a table.
