In Talisay the Landing point of the American Reclamation of Cebu in World War 2 there are a few reminders of the War in TalisayAside from the still intact Pillbox near the War Monument (see other post) another one sits destroyed Town elders tell me that the structure was about 2-4 Meters tall and survived into the 1980s being once used as a Carwash and a warehouse but now it is gone but remnants still remain. Another Elder who goes by the name Nanay Loling says that when she and her friends heard of the American LVT’s and destroyers were on the coast they rushed to Malayan Beach. but were interrupted by Naval Bombardment of the invasion force. They were not informed of the liberation despite pamphlets being dropped from planes several days before.
She says that several japanese soldiers were hiding inside the Pillbox and she says she saw many LVT’s being disabled by mines and Japanese soldiers attacking the American Soldiers. Finally she says the Pillboxes were silenced as a shell landed a hit them but they were not completely destroyed but the Japanese Soldiers inside were. She concludes by saying after the war she surveyed the pillbox and found blood and a imperial japanese seal.

The massive steel cables give me an impression that this was no ordinary pillbox maybe this structure was a base for Japanese Forces in talisay. (Actually it was a ammunition dump) Situated on a concrete platform the walls are about 2.5 Feet thick and the remnants form a Rectangular shape. This Pillbox (or remnant of) is one of two pillboxes in Talisay still existing another will be covered soon. Skeptics may say that it is just a random building unrelated to WW2, i say who would need walls that thick? also it is too small to be a house
