The Watchtower of Obong

Built after the decree of Alcalde Mayor of Cebu at the time Manuel Romero in 1825 to build 2 story high watchtowers around the coast in the 12 towns of Cebu. The Obong Watchtower in Dalaguete near the Obong Spring was one of these Watchtowers. These watchtowers were the first line of defense for the municipalities of southern Cebu against Muslim pirates that were brought by the northern winds from Mindanao. This is Obong Watchtower

Known well to locals, the Watchtower as of July 20 was under renovation for a reason I do not know. The watchtower near the see was close to a Spring which was filled with People.

Made of Sea Stones (Dead Coral) and Mortar the structure has shown its age no longer having stairs or any wood of any kind even the probable roof has been lost to time the only thing that remains is the walls and entrance

Its a good place to take pictures (if you dont mind the renovations) as it is right beside the sea and beach and after you can swim in the developed and clean Obong Spring.(Also there is a 5-15 Php charge to get in)

This Unknown structure is currently being preserved (But not as well as the Watchtower infront of the Dalaguete Church) this is a neglected strcuture only now recieving attention see it and believe it.
